Is it bad to buy a car with 4 previous owners?

If the car fax checks out ok, then how many people have owned it shouldn't be an issue. What are the reviews on the Passat? I am more familiar with ones from the 80's and early 90's but if there is not reason. Then do go looking for something that may not be there.
